This prestigious penthouse transformation on High Street Kensington demonstrates our approach to comprehensive modernisation within sensitive conservation contexts. The project began as a complete renovation but evolved into a far more complex undertaking when strip-back to brick revealed significant structural and roofing issues requiring immediate remedial attention.
Our response included innovative corrective designs for the building’s roof ventilation system, addressing fundamental structural concerns while maintaining the property’s architectural integrity. The scope extended beyond essential repairs to encompass complete modernisation, creating a sophisticated urban retreat that maximises the penthouse’s elevated position.
Central to the transformation was the creation of multiple terrace spaces designed for contemporary outdoor living. The rear terrace features an automated pergola with a retractable louvred roof system, carefully positioned below the 3-metre eave height and screened by existing boundary treatments to minimise impact on the conservation area. An external kitchen and integrated seating areas complete this sophisticated outdoor environment.

Front elevation alterations included converting existing dormer windows to facilitate single- and double-door access onto new front terrace spaces, enhanced with discreet external black metal railings that maintain minimal visual impact above the parapet line.
The interior transformation featured a design-led fit-out anchored by a spectacular 12-metre lighting installation, uniquely designed and manufactured specifically for the space. This bespoke element demonstrates our commitment to creating distinctive architectural features that enhance both functionality and visual drama.
