This intricate dual-property redevelopment showcases our ability to manage complex multi-unit projects in sensitive conservation contexts. The ambitious scheme involved the comprehensive transformation of two adjoining townhouses, each requiring distinctly different approaches to achieve a harmonious overall result.
The corner property underwent partial demolition, with meticulous retention of front and side façades to comply with stringent conservation policies. At the same time, the adjacent townhouse was entirely stripped and rebuilt from within its existing envelope. This varied approach demanded sophisticated coordination and planning expertise to ensure both properties worked cohesively.
Central to the design was the creation of a linked basement beneath both properties, providing substantial additional accommodation while maintaining the established character of the streetscape. The scope included various extensions, replacement aluminium double-glazed windows throughout, and contemporary rear extension alignments featuring slim-profile sliding doors.

Navigating the regulatory complexities proved particularly challenging, requiring over eight party wall agreements alongside necessary Estate Management and Planning Consents. Our thorough pre-application consultation process proved invaluable, securing early support for flood prevention measures, including discreet upstands and security grilles to new lightwells.
Sustainable design elements include Sedum green roofs concealed behind parapet edges, reducing visual impact while enhancing environmental performance. Interior elements featured bespoke staircases and elegant design installations, complemented by luxurious contemporary amenities.
The project demonstrates our proficiency in complex problem-solving and stakeholder management, successfully harmonising conservation preservation requirements with contemporary functionality. Through careful design development and rigorous attention to conservation area sensitivities, we delivered enhanced accommodation that respects the established streetscape while meeting modern family living standards.
